Cristina Chiotan is presently leading on the policy and advocacy related tasks. She monitors, analises, and writes brief reports on EU policy developments in public health, health promotion and the social determinants of health and health inequalities, with a special focus on the European Pillar of Social Rights and the European Semester process. She promotes members’ work at EU level, in multistakeholder platforms and international strategic partnerships, i.e. EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, European Parliament, WHO Europe. She engages with members to address health equity priorities within the Technical Working Group on Non Communicable Diseases. She ensures the networking and collaboration work with relevant EU institutions and prepares response for EU and WHO public consultations, i.e. the European Pillar of Social Rights, WHO Strategy on Physical Activity.
Cristina Chiotan joined EuroHealthNet as project officer in 2009 and acted as a central liaison point for members’ capacity building and awareness raising actions. She was also involved in research and project management, i.e. coordination of health and well-being related work within SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles 2050 project; communication, and dissemination work within Quality Action, the Joint Action for Improving Quality in HIV Prevention. Cristina has over 16 years of experience in public health, capacity building and intersectoral partnerships. After graduating as medical doctor, she specialised in public health and health management and is currently a master candidate in Political Strategy and Communication with University of Kent. She has successfully contributed to health care systems reform implementation in Romania, while working initially in the Ministry of Health, and then in USAID, UNICEF, and European funded public health programmes.
