EUPHA / EuroHealthNet - 6th European Public Health Conference: Health in Europe - Registration until 1st November

The 6th European Public Health Conference will be organized by the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) and the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European region (ASPHER) in partnership with the Belgian Association of Public Health and EuroHealthNet. The conference will be organized around five plenary sessions with the following themes:

  • Are we there yet? Learning from the past, building the future
  • Hurtling towards the cliff edge? Population dynamics and public health
  • No limits for public health! Using evidence for policy changes
  • How to make it happen! On the development of people and institutions in public health
  • Perspectives on past and future health actions in Europe

In the parallel programme, more than 600 abstracts will be presented in workshops, oral sessions, moderated poster sessions and poster walks. Thematic tracks will guide the delegates through the 15 sessions that will take place simultaneously. These tracks include themes as Health services research, The ageing population, Health systems information and policy, Mental health, Austerity and equity, Capacity building in public health and Health determinants and policy. Speakers at the opening session are Mrs Laurette Onkelinx, Federal Minister of Health for Belgium and Tonio Borg, EU Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy, who will look back at 20 years of EU health policy and forward at the challenges to continue building the future. In the closing ceremony, Martin McKee will present the main outcomes and recommendations from the conference.

Other outstanding keynote presenters are:

  • Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe
  • Julio Frenk, Dean at the Harvard School of Public Health, United States;
  • Johan Mackenbach, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

EuroHealthNet will participate in a plenary session on policy into practice, plus present at several workshop sessions on our DRIVERS project, our PROGRESS work and new plans for CIRI, PHASE and HPE (see www.healthpromotion.eu) and our regional work as part of the EU Joint Action on Equity. We will also help to host the welcome reception at the European Parliament
