Institute of public health Murska Sobota is public institution founded by government of Slovenia. The Institute is leading institution in region in areas of health promotion and prevention, surveillance and control of communicable and non-communicable (major) chronic diseases as well as environmental health risks. Main fields of work are: microbiology, social medicine, health promotion, research work, statistics, epidemiology and communicable diseases, food hygiene (HACCP), ecology and disinfection, extermination of insects and rats (disinsection and deratization). Together with other regional institutes and national public health institute they build a public health network.

Multidisciplinary team of experts in Institute of public health Murska Sobota is qualified to recognize, to foresee and to response to public health problems.

The scope of work of Institute is complex:

advocacy and implementation of public health protection ,
offering professional and expert knowledge to support state and local policies
ability to plan, create and realize effective measures aimed in preservation and improvement of health and quality of life of population
surveillance of health status and health needs of population, proposing most effective activities for health improvement
development, implementation evaluation of health promotion programs on local and national level
microbiology diagnostics for in- and out- patient health care
surveillance of environmental hazards particularly water

Departments for social medicine, epidemiology and microbiology employ multidisciplinary team of experts: medical doctors, nurses, food technology engineers, teachers of health education, veterinarians and other professionals.

Institute of public health Musk Sobota carried out as a project leader or partner projects co-financed by MoH of Slovenia and EU.

High qualification of experts, rich experience in the field work and high motivation are solid basement for joint work with partners from EU and third countries.
