Capacity Building for Health Promotion (2006 - 2007)
Aims & Objectives:
The aim of the project was to improve the capacity of the participating agencies to respond effectively to the major health needs in their countries.
In particular it aimed at:
- identifying the existing capacity and needs of the National Agencies for Public Health and Health Promotion in the new EU Member States and accession countries to address the wider socio-economic determinants of health;
- strengthening national platforms for Public Health and Health Promotion in the new EU Member States and accession countries;
- Developing a strategic programme for capapcity building to improve health in the new EU Member States and accession countries (at national and regional level);
- providing training to the National Agencies for Public Health and health Promotion in the new EU Member States regarding: cross cutting approaches to health promotion, health at the European level and strategic programming in health promotion.
The project contributed to improve the understanding of public health and health promotion strengths and challenges in Central and Eastern Europe. You can download the project newsletter here:
