EuroHealthNet, in partnership with the Riga City Council, organised this country exchange in Riga, Latvia, on 24-25 April 2017 under the topic "Health in all policies - from policy to practice for sustainable development and health".
The first day included as speakers the Mayor of Riga, representatives from the Latvian Ministry of Health, the ECDC, EuroHealthNet, and from several departments of the Riga City Council (departments of welfare, culture and sports, city development, transport, etc.) who presented some good practices on selected core themes, and discussed with the rest of participants how related EU policy processes may support health equity at national, regional and local levels to promote healthier lifestyles and social inclusion.
The second day consisted on three on-site visits to several local initiatives (Promenade ‘Spīķeri’, ‘Getliņi EKO’, and Community centre ‘Ābeļzieds’) that strive to provide inhabitants with the social, economic, and environmental conditions necessary for health, well-being and equity in order to develop to their full potential.

About EuroHealthNet Country Exchange Visits
EuroHealthNet Country Exchange Visits are members-only events that are open to senior delegates. The aim is two-fold, namely (1) to exchange good practices and policies on selected core themes and showcase members' work to a selection of senior European colleagues and, at the same time, (2) discuss how related EU policy processes may support health equity at national, regional and local levels.
