Earlier at the Seventieth World Health Assembly, Estonia announced its commitment to host the 10th anniversary conference in Tallinn on 13–14 June 2018 to discuss preparations for a high-level technical meeting in 2018, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the Tallinn Charter. 'The Tallinn Charter: Health Systems for Health and Wealth', adopted in 2008, provides guidance and a strategic framework for strengthening health systems in the WHO European Region.
At the side-event, Member States will agree on the proposed themes of the conference, which will focus on “Health systems for prosperity and solidarity: Leaving no one behind”. The identified themes are:
- Include: ensuring access and financial protection for everyone
- Invest: improving health systems investment to maximize returns
- Innovate: transforming health services and systems to meet people’s needs
