EuroHealthNet co-authors four COVID-19 vignettes for the COVID-19 Health Systems Response Monitor

EuroHealthNet has worked with the European Observatory for Health Systems and Policies to produce four vignettes to be published in the COVID-19 Health Systems Response Monitor (HSRM). This is a tool developed by the European Observatory for Health Systems and Policies to monitor, collect and organise information on different countries’ health systems’ response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The cross-country analyses that we worked on were:

• What was the role of public health agencies in gathering behavioural insights during the COVID-19 pandemic? RIVM (the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) and EuroHealthNet developed a vignette on the role of public health agencies in gathering behavioural insights during the pandemic. RIVM started to map behavioural patterns and determinants to understand compliance with COVID-19 measures from the very start of the pandemic. Read more about RIVM’s mapping work during the pandemic
• How did public health agencies and services communicate with specific groups during the COVID-19 pandemic? In this analysis, the Spanish Ministry of Health, the UNGA Association Equi-Sastipen-Rroma Network, Prolepsis Institute in Greece, and EuroHealthNet explored how communication professionals addressed the public health infodemic amidst the urgent and evolving nature of the pandemic, and explored what is needed to design open, constructive dialogue in our changing world.
• What was the role of public health agencies in addressing the mental health needs of the population during the COVID-19 pandemic? In this analysis, the National Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia (NIJZ) and EuroHealthNet discussed the role of public health agencies in addressing the mental health needs of the population during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis discusses the wider EU perspective, and concludes by setting out the preconditions for addressing mental health in policy and practice.
• How did public health agencies work to integrate health equity into public health practice during the COVID-19 pandemic? Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic public health responses were reliant on government policy. Public Health Scotland and EuroHealthNet discuss how public health agencies worked to integrate health equity into public health practice during the COVID-19 pandemic.
