EuroHealthNet responds to EU consultation on the interim evaluation of the EU4Health Programme
EuroHealthNet has responded to DG SANTE’s online consultation on the interim evaluation of the EU4Health Programme. The EU4Health Programme is a €5.3 billion initiative launched in 2021 to strengthen European health systems following the COVID-19 pandemic. It builds on prior EU health programmes and focuses on urgent health priorities, crisis preparedness, and long-term health challenges.
The aim of this survey is to evaluate the EU4Health programme’s effectiveness, relevance, efficiency, and overall value. The response helps identify areas for improvement and inform future decisions about the programme.
EuroHealthNet contributed to the EU4Health programme consultation by emphasising the need to shift from traditional healthcare systems to health-promoting systems, integrating community-based services, and addressing behavioural and cultural insights. We also highlight the importance of tackling commercial, environmental, and social health determinants, enhancing stakeholder collaboration, and ensuring financial sustainability of the programme, particularly advocating against foreseen budget cuts and emphasising the significance of the 20% budget allocation for health promotion and disease prevention.
