EuroHealthNet responds to the EU4Health programme: priorities, strategic orientations and needs (2023)
The EU4Health programme is the main instrument to tackle core health issues and support healthcare systems’ resilience. The consultation launched by the European Commission sought to collect feedback from stakeholders on current and future EU health priorities and strategic orientations, and on key health needs to be addressed through EU4Health annual Work Programmes.
In its response, EuroHealthNet outlined that the programme needs to:
- Better incorporate psychosocial and environmental factors in health promotion and disease prevention actions, reducing health inequalities as a core objective.
- Facilitate the sustainable upscaling of health promotion and disease prevention by supporting the transition to health-promoting health systems, continuing the exchange of good practices, and strengthening health system capacity for better collaboration with key non-health sectors to transition to an economy of wellbeing.
- Support the participation of citizens and patients through Operating Grants for civil society organisations to improve their capacity to support programme objectives, and by introducing a broader range of action-oriented calls for more meaningful stakeholder involvement.
