EuroHealthNet responds to the EU consultation on the EU Youth Strategy
EuroHealthNet has responded to the European Commission’s consultation on the EU Youth Strategy. The Strategy aims to encourage young people to engage and become active citizens involved in democracy and society, informing the EU of what is important to this generation as part of the EU Youth Dialogue.
As part of a response to enhance youth policy cooperation between Member States, EuroHealthNet sets out clear priorities, including creating a better understanding of how to involve young people in the Strategy through specific tools; this is key to capturing the next generation’s voice, concerns, and ideas. EuroHealthNet also outlines how good health and wellbeing are the fundamental pre-conditions to empower, connect, and engage young people.
The EU Youth Strategy is an important vehicle to bring the health and wellbeing needs and aspirations of young people to the forefront of EU discussions. To achieve this, policy instruments should be mobilised to promote a youth force, while the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy should reinforce the importance of health-promoting educational institutions, mental health and wellbeing, physical activity, healthy nutrition, and climate action.
