EuroHealthNet responds to the EU Third Health Programme (2014-2020)
The Third EU Health Programme was the 2014-2020 financial package for action in the field of health.
It aimed to:
- promote health, prevent disease, and foster supportive environments for healthy lifestyles,
- protect Union citizens from serious cross border health threats,
- contribute to innovative, efficient, and sustainable health systems,
- facilitate access to better and safer healthcare for Union citizens.
To assess its impact, the European Commission launched a consultation process for the final evaluation of the Third Health Programme. EuroHealthNet responded to the consultation, noting that the programme had potential to address health inequalities and the social determinants of health more concretely. Moreover, better approaches to mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, environmental threats such as climate change, the evolving nature of digital health and the importance of (digital) health literacy were among the key points raised.
