European Public Health Conference 2026
The 19th European Public Health (EPH) Conference will be held from 10 to 13 November 2026 in Bilbao, Spain.
This year's conference will focus on 'Urban and global synergies: shaping the future of public health with climate resilience, equity and innovation' and will explore and debate current research and policy challenges in population health.
Plenary session hosted by EuroHealthNet: Providing health equity in urban and rural settings
On 12 November, EuroHealthNet will host the Plenary 4, 'Providing equity in urban and rural settings – Left-Behind Places, Left-Behind Health'.
This session will examine two interlocking phenomena: demographic transition and place-based health inequality. It draws on evidence across gentrification, housing, rural depopulation, and urban and rural service provision to show how divergent health outcomes are produced across the urban-rural spectrum. Central to this analysis is evidence on dignity, agency, and belonging as independent drivers of health.
The session will take place at a significant moment in EU policy. Negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028–2034 will shape territorial investment and cohesion across Member States for the coming decade, with major implications for health equity. The plenary will bring together evidence and different perspectives to examine how health and health equity should be integrated into territorial investment planning/decisions.
