Join us at the European Parliament on 15 October for a policy discussion on how health promotion, disease prevention, and health equity can be reflected in the next long-term EU budget.
About the event
The Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028–2034 will shape EU investment priorities for the coming seven years, yet under the current Commission proposal, there is no dedicated health programme or ring-fenced funding for health promotion and disease prevention. Instead, health-related investment would be spread across broader instruments, including the European Competitiveness Fund, the National and Regional Partnership Plans, and Horizon Europe. With no defined share reserved for prevention, these priorities risk being sidelined.
Hosted by European Parliament Vice-President Victor NEGRESCU and organised by EuroHealthNet and the Joint Action JA PreventNCD, the event will bring together Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission and Member States, and public health stakeholders to discuss concrete ways to keep prevention visible and adequately funded in the EU's next long-term budget.
It builds on the JA PreventNCD Policy Statement, 'Investing in Health – Securing EU funding for health promotion and NCD prevention in the next Multiannual Financial Framework'.
The event can be followed both in person and via live stream. Registration is required for both in-person attendance and for online attendance.
