Save the date: RIVER-EU closing event
After five years of successful collaboration, the RIVER-EU project will conclude with a final public event in Brussels, bringing together communities, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to reflect on key outcomes and discuss pathways for advancing equitable vaccination strategies across Europe.
Date: Tuesday, 19 May 2026
Location: Brussels, Belgium
The programme will:
- Share community perspectives and insights emerging from country-level engagement across Europe
- Present the main outputs of the RIVER-EU project
- Introduce RIVER-EU’s Guideline and Action Framework, led by UK Health Security Agency
Country-level events ahead of the Brussels final conference
In the months leading up to the Brussels event, RIVER-EU partners are organising a series of country-level activities with local stakeholders and communities in the Netherlands, Poland, Greece, Slovakia, Israel, the United Kingdom, and Finland.
The aim of these events is to acknowledge the key contributions of local stakeholders to RIVER-EU research and outputs. They provide an opportunity to share project results, build local trust and ownership, and explore and longer-term impact on immunisation policy and practice beyond the project’s lifetime.
A policy debate
On 20 May 2026, there will be an invitation-only expert meeting in Brussels organised by EuroHealthNet. This session will provide space for in-depth exchange with policymakers and experts, with the aim of gathering input and feedback on the RIVER-EU guidelines to support their policy relevance and future uptake.
More details, including the full agenda and registration information, will be shared soon.
For now, save the date!
RIVER-EU explores how health systems impact vaccine uptake in underserved communities, focusing on two vaccines, MMR and HPV.
The project collects evidence on health system determinants of vaccine uptake levels and develops strategies to address barriers and increase trust in the healthcare system.
