EU Civil Society Week: Strengthening Cohesion and Participation in Polarised Societies (EuroHealthNet speaking)
Rising polarisation, driven by overlapping crises such as economic hardship, climate change, and political instability, threatens social cohesion and trust in democratic institutions. The outcomes of the 2024 elections highlight the urgency of addressing these divisions.
Civil Society Week 2025 will bring together civil society stakeholders, policymakers, youth representatives, and experts to explore solutions for strengthening democratic engagement. The four-day forum will feature debates and workshops on:
- A European Civil Society Strategy for greater cohesion
- Participatory approaches to Europe’s green and blue future
- Balancing innovation with European values and ethics
- Policies to enhance civil society funding and capacity-building
- The role of the European Citizens’ Initiative in reducing polarisation
