In memoriam of Dr. Mira Jovanovski-Dašić, a visionary leader in public health
It is with deep sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Dr. Mira Jovanovski-Dašić, the esteemed Head of the Secretariat of the South-Eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN) and a fierce public health advocate.
Dr. Jovanovski-Dašić was a remarkable leader whose tireless dedication to public health, health diplomacy, and regional collaboration has left an enduring legacy within SEEHN and the broader public health community
EuroHealthNet has had the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Jovanovski-Dašić and SEEHN for over a decade. A recent initiative was providing a platform to exchange on mental health challenges facing displaced people from Ukraine – building on experience within SEEHN working in cross-border and conflict/post-conflict settings. Last year, Dr. Jovanovski-Dašić also brought her insights to a workshop at the European Health Forum Gastein, where EuroHealthNet explored challenges underpinning vaccine hesitancy. Dr. Jovanovski-Dašić’s contributions to these activities exemplified her passion and expertise.
Colleagues from our Partnership, including our Executive Board members Prof. Plamen Dimitrov and Dr. Mojca Gabrijelčič Blenkuš, have engaged directly with her and SEEHN and have been inspired by her drive and dedication.
“During many years of my activities in South-eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN), as former Ex-Com member and as an alternate National Health Coordinator I have experienced the highest professionalism, commitment to work, positive attitude and extraordinary leadership of Dr. Dasic. She was always available to offer guidance, share knowledge, and provide support to anyone who needed it.”
Prof. Plamen Dimitrov
Our deepest sympathies go out to her family, friends, and colleagues. We are committed to honouring her legacy through the continued pursuit of the values and initiatives she so deeply believed in, as well as through maintaining the close ties we have with representatives from SEEHN.
