Joint letter: Protect children, protect Europe – Fund the fight against child poverty
On 23 June 2025, EuroHealthNet joined a broad coalition of civil society networks calling on EU leaders to make the eradication of child poverty a core priority of the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
With over 20 million children growing up without equal opportunities, we are facing not only a social emergency, but a threat to Europe’s long-term cohesion, prosperity, and democracy.
In our joint letter to the Presidents of the European Commission, Parliament and Council, we urge the EU to:
- Reinforce the European Child Guarantee, ensuring it remains a sharp, targeted tool to support the most vulnerable children
- Embed the Child Guarantee into a strengthened EU Social Agenda, with clear links to the European Pillar of Social Rights and the upcoming EU Anti-Poverty Strategy
- Secure robust, dedicated funding in the next EU budget to safeguard and expand investments in children’s well-being, social inclusion, and access to essential services.
We stand ready to support EU leaders in building a more equitable and inclusive Europe that leaves no child behind.
