Joint open letter: Publish the EU legislative framework for Sustainable Food Systems before the end of this Commission’s mandate
The European Commission’s proposal for an EU legislative framework for Sustainable Food Systems Law (FSFS) is expected at the end of September/ October. However, it has seen great pushback from agrifood industry and conservative politicians. With this joint letter, signed by over 160 organisations, the Food Policy Coalition presses European Commission President von der Leyen and the Commission to not abandon the EU Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy’s flagship FSFS Law, but to ensure a meaningful transition through an ambitious proposal.
This framework law is a crucial part of the Farm to Fork Strategy that will aim to integrate sustainability into all food-related policies, with significant implications for food production, distribution and consumption in the EU.

Earlier this year, the EU Food Policy Coalition published a joint report laying out clear policy recommendations for the SFS Law to ensure a meaningful transition to sustainable food systems across the European Union.
