WHO hearing on Climate Change and Health: Shaping a Resilient Future
This external hearing, organised by WHO/Europe, will bring together Member States, partners, and civil society representatives to address the impact of climate change on health. The climate crisis is a health crisis, causing preventable deaths, economic costs, and worsening health issues such as infectious diseases, mental health conditions, and food security.
The hearing aims to mobilise stakeholders, gather actionable ideas for the second European Programme of Work 2026–2030 (EPW2), and foster partnerships for climate and health action.
Keynote speakers will include Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge (WHO Regional Director for Europe), Dr Jane Goodall (Founder, Jane Goodall Institute), Andrew Haines (Professor, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), and Katrín Jakobsdóttir (former Prime Minister of Iceland).
EPW2 will prioritise climate-resilient health systems, sustainable low-carbon healthcare, and inclusive solutions for vulnerable populations. WHO/Europe is hosting a series of hearings to ensure EPW2 addresses key health challenges and promotes equity and resilience.
