European Culture and Health Hub (ECHH)
About
The European Culture and Health Hub (ECHH – 2026-2029) is an initiative dedicated to advancing the role of arts and culture in improving health, wellbeing, and social inclusion across Europe. It brings together policymakers and practitioners from sectors including culture, health, social care, education, and youth to foster cross-sectoral collaboration and
drive systemic change.
ECHH strengthens the evidence base for arts and health by developing online evidence gap maps and identifying future research priorities. It also supports the implementation of scalable, replicable practices through mixed-methods evaluation, focusing on health promotion, mental health and wellbeing of children, young people, working-age adults at risk of burnout, and ageing. Capacity-building activities will equip stakeholders with the knowledge and skills to apply these practices.
The project will raise awareness of the impact of arts and culture on health and wellbeing through targeted campaigns and events, while promoting dialogue and cooperation via a dedicated hybrid platform - the European Culture and Health Hub (ECHub). This platform will serve as a knowledge repository and a collaborative space for exchange and innovation.
Project duration: June 2026 – May 2029 (36 months)
What's EuroHealthNet's role?
EuroHealthNet leads the Work Package on ‘Creative Dissemination, Engagement and Exploitation’, overseeing how the project communicates its results and connects with key audiences across Europe. EuroHealthNet also drives engagement by organising regular online exchanges and curating the project’s knowledge resources. In parallel, it contributes to awareness-raising activities and supports partners in translating results into accessible formats. In the policy work package, EuroHealthNet leads a task delivering a series of policy webinars, annual symposia, and national events that present project findings to EuroHealthNet – The European Partnership for Health, Equity and Wellbeing decision-makers and facilitate their uptake in policy and practice. Our associate member, the Turku University of Applied Sciences, is the project coordinator.
How does it benefit EuroHealthNet members?
ECHH directly supports our mission to reduce health inequalities and promote population health through cross-sectoral action. Its strong focus on mental health, social inclusion, and vulnerable groups aligns closely with EuroHealthNet’s priorities. Moreover, the project’s emphasis on policy dialogue, capacity building, and multi-level stakeholder engagement enhances EuroHealthNet’s ability to connect national and regional public health actors, fostering the integration of culture into health policies and advancing a ‘Health in All Policies’ approach across Europe.
