Joint Statement for advancing the implementation of the European Child Guarantee
As an Alliance for Investing in Children, EuroHealthNet and co-signatories of this joint statement are urging to advance the European Child Guarantee. The European Child Guarantee is a pivotal, innovative and timely EU-level policy instrument that aims to ensure access to basic rights and services for children in vulnerable situations across EU Member States.
We emphasise the urgent need for innovative National Action Plans (NAPs) that go beyond superficial measures to tackle child poverty effectively. Adequate and transparent funding from both EU and national sources is crucial to support these initiatives, particularly focusing on early intervention and inclusive policies. Meaningful engagement of civil society organisations (CSOs), children, and stakeholders is essential for monitoring progress and ensuring that interventions meet diverse regional needs. Clear, comparable metrics and robust data collection are necessary to evaluate outcomes and refine strategies. We emphasise the importance of sustained political commitment to prioritise child poverty eradication within broader EU policies, aiming for equitable access to essential services and lasting societal impact.
